So tomorrow (Sunday) is my last shift at cafca. Pop by, tell my how much you’ll miss me, and I might be tempted to give you something free. I’m on from 8 till 2.

The Kup of Excellence

Big, exciting news!

The café I work at, cafca, has been nominated for the Krups Kup of Excellence as one of the top 10 cafés in the entirety of Vancouver!! Wooooo!

If we receive enough votes to make it into the top 3, judges will come around and check us out, and we very well might win.

Help us out by voting at: Even if you don’t live in Vancouver. Or in Canada. Or on Earth. We are listed under Café for Contemporary Art. Thanks for your help!

I’ve been back since last Sunday, and man is it ever good to be back! I love Montréal to bits, but something about Vancouver just makes it home.

You can catch me in the upcoming weeks at CAFCA (140 East Esplanade) – my next shift is Tuesday morning, bright and early! 49th has changed their Organic Espresso lately as it’s a new harvest season, and while I’m not the biggest fan, it’s a welcome change as I was getting tired of the old blend. Hopefully as time goes on they’ll be able to fine-tune the roast to perfection.

Hello, big bad intraweb. Nice to meet you.

As for the rest of you, welcome to the inaugural posting on The Musings of a Gingerkid (aka muag)! I suppose I should introduce myself…my name is Tim and I was born and raised in North Vancouver, B.C.

I’m a half-Aussie, quarter-Brit (the remainder is Canadian) that loves coffee, politics, music, laughter, people, and life in general. I graduated this year from Handsworth Secondary and I’ll be off to McGill (Montréal) in the fall. My lofty goals for my time there in my first year include: varsity hockey (the McGill Redmen) ,and a job at one of the premier cafés in Montréal, Café Myriade. Of course, if I do end up playing varsity hockey then I will very likely not have time for a job, but I hope to be able to put in a few shifts there at some point. Read more…
